Every company gets screened by hand against six ethical criteria. No fossil fuels, weapons, gambling, tobacco, factory farming, or human-rights violations. No Amazon. No Meta. No Nestlé.

Index funds are 100% exposed when markets fall. Our active managers can shift weight to defensive assets and unlisted impact investments — climate tech, social housing — that passive funds can't touch.

Yes, our fees are higher than passive index funds. They pay for human screening, real exclusion, and unlisted ethical assets you literally cannot buy elsewhere. 20% of those fees go to NZ charities.

How long does switching actually take?
Three minutes online. You provide your IRD number, ID and contact details. We handle the rest with your old provider — no forms, no phone calls. Your balance arrives within 10 business days.
Will I lose money when I switch?
No. Your balance transfers in cash. There are no exit fees and no penalties from us. Your employer and government contributions continue uninterrupted. You stay invested in the market the whole time.
Why are your fees higher than Simplicity or Kernel?
Because we do something different. Passive funds buy whatever's in the index. We screen every company by hand, manage actively for downside protection, and invest in unlisted ethical assets (climate tech, social housing) that index funds can't buy. 20% of our fees fund Kiwi charities. You're paying for impact you can verify, not just a tracker.
What happens to my employer contributions?
Nothing changes for you or your employer. We notify IRD that you've switched to Pathfinder. Your employer continues paying your 3% (or whatever your rate is) automatically into your new Pathfinder account.
Is Pathfinder safe and regulated?
Yes. We're licensed by the Financial Markets Authority (FMA). Our funds are independently supervised by Trustees Executors. We're also a certified B Corporation — meeting third-party standards on social and environmental performance, audited every three years.
